On which range of pathogens is THERAFLEX MB-Plasma effective?

Why is THERAFLEX MB-Plasma less effective on non-enveloped viruses? Because nucleic acid of non-enveloped viruses has only a protein coat which is more tightly packed to resist to environmental influences.

Is THERAFLEX MB-Plasma effective on West Nile Virus?

The question of effectiveness on intracellular viruses is not relevant because the system includes a plasma membrane filtration, which effectively eliminates all cells, due to its membrane filtration at 0.65 micrometers. Consequently there are no residual leucocytes, platelets and red cells left.

Is THERAFLEX MB-Plasma effective on intracellular viruses?

Has Extracellular CMV been validated?

Yes. Extracellular CMV has a reduction rate of 4.08 log 10 (see bibliography: Seghatchian et al. 2008 Transfus Apher Sci 38:271-280).

Does the THERAFLEX MB-Plasma affect prions?

The overall procedure results in a reduction of prion protein of about 50 % ( see bibliography: Hornsey et al 2001 Transfus Med 11:31-36). Macopharma does not claim to efficiently reduce or inactivate prion protein in plasma with our system.

Is MB Plasma efficient on Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika?

Dengue 1-4, Chikungunya and Zika viruses are effectively inactivated by the THERAFLEX MB-Plasma system (≥ 4.5 – ≥ 5.8 Log, ≥ 6.6 Log, and ≥ 5.8 Log, respectively)1,2 and these viruses can be added to the range of agents that are inactivated by this system.
